Continuing work by the Rising Rolls group

25 June 2026: The JGHS Parent Council’s Rising Rolls subgroup continue their work and were successful in making a joint emergency deputation (along with Boroughmuir High School) to the City of Edinburgh Council’s Children and Families Committee on 22 June 2026.

The emergency motion was passed, and we await further updates from the council regarding the requested reports. 

The group’s work will continue over the summer holidays with meetings with councillors, MPs and MSPs planned. We continue to explore options for addressing the impact of the overcrowding and the subgroup welcomes contact from any parents/carers who interested in learning more about how they can support this. 

We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has experience in educational building design and educational psychology.  

We also welcome feedback from parents and students about the impact of rising rolls on their school experience to pull together some specific case studies.
